Puzzle box

A shiny metal octagonal prism about a foot in length and four inches in diameter. It appears to have been cast directly in this shape and has no seams or hinges. It can be unlocked by a complex sequence of gestures and pressure on the surface which slowly transform it into a rough clay cylinder.

Requires a DC 25 investigation to open, only one allowed per day per person. The DC is lowered by 1 every day an attempt is made to open it, at a max of 1 per day. The DC can be lowered by 2 once on a DC 20 arcana check to understand the nature of the box, or by a similarly clever solution. The nature of the item as a puzzle box can be determined with a DC 15 investigation check.

Once opened, it becomes a clay cylinder engraved with a map that points to the island in Zora’s Furrow.
