- Heph receives a call from his parents asking if he can come over
to help fix their plumbing, since he’s the handy one in the family
- Elias and Heph are discussing the difference between
science and magic
- Rormir says he came from a different plane
- He mentions he wasn’t sent here by a spell, but by a snake spirit
- Heph says he wants to talk to the snake if Rormir
ever hears from him again
- He’s disappointed in Heph’s lack of knowledge about the planes
- Heph is trying to get rid of Rormir
- They discuss where to buy clothes
- Heph knows that the Capitale Market is
having a special event the next day where they are selling “Wondrous
foreign clothes for discount prices!”
- They discuss where to stay for the night
- Elias disappears into the night
- Rormir leaves with Heph to go to the Shadeby
Inn
- Elias isn’t noticed by the others, but is just trying to sight
see in the same general direction
- They all fail perception checks
- Heph and Rormir arrive at the Shadeby
Inn
- They walk in
- Rormir is still naked
- The innkeeper stares for a moment, then immediately says “Heph
what is it now?”
- Heph explains that this person fell from a portal in the ceiling
of a tavern and needs a place to stay
- She waves her hand in front of Heph’s face and says “Well, you’re
not on drugs.”
- She does it on Rormir as well and he doesn’t seem to be on
drugs
- Heph rolls arcana to identify the spell as Detect Poison and
Disease
- She yells towards the back of the inn “Gabe, can I have some pants?”
- She goes back, opens the door behind the bar, has a hushed conversation
with someone back there, and then has pants thrown on her
- She balls them up and throws them to Rormir
- She says these are “conversation pants”, and that if he wants to keep them
he’ll need to pay 1gp
- Also staying a night is 8gp
- Rormir pays the money and goes upstairs to his room
- Heph heads to Potion Pitstop and helps his
parents with their plumbing
- Elias wanders around the city
- He sees the view from the edge of the cliffs
- He wanders around the area near the Shadeby Inn and learns
it seems fairly middle-class, with mostly shops and businesses but also some
residential buildings
- He decides to climb the highest building in the area
- He climbs to the second of three stories but slips, hanging on outside the
window
- Inside he sees some people sleeping and some reading or doing other tasks
by candlelight
- Heph enters the room but doesn’t see Elias
- Heph sits down and starts reading “The Art of Smithing” by the
light of a glowing rock
- It’s a fairly dry primer on smithing
- Elias tries to climb higher but falls to the ground, taking 4
bludgeoning damage
- Heph sees something fall past the window, but isn’t fast enough to
cast feather fall
- He leans out the window to look
- Elias sees him and calls out “Hey pancake, how’s it going?”
- Heph begrudgingly comes downstairs and heals Elias for
6hp (up to full)
- He then goes back to his bunk room and doesn’t let Elias come
in
- Elias heads to the cliff side to camp for the night rather than
going to the Shadeby Inn
- The part sleeps, one in a familiar bed, the others spending their first
nights in a new land
- In the morning, Elias goes to the Shadeby Inn
at the crack of dawn
- Tries chatting up people in the inn, but makes them all
uncomfortable on a nat 1
- Rormir also gets up early in the morning
- He gorges himself on the pancakes offered as part of a continent breakfast
by the inn, and feels super sick
- He pukes on a person Elias was trying to get to explain magic
to him
- Heph shows up, sees this, and tries to sneak in so that
Elias and Rormir don’t see
- Elias sees him and greets him loudly with “Hi pancake!”
- Heph begrudgingly goes over and says hi
- Trying not to get into a fight with the patrons of the inn who were treated
to a sequence of boring conversation and vomit, Heph leaves with
Elias and Rormir to go the Capitale
Market to buy clothes
- On the way, Rormir notices a broken window in a nearby shop and
some noises within
- Heph rushes over, and the others follow
- Inside they see 3 burglars stealing potions
- They’re not really trying to hide or be quiet at all
- They jump in through the window, Elias hides
- One looks in their direction and they seem to be wearing a white porcelain
mask
- Rormir kills one with an arrow
- They at no point scream or cry out
- Heph kills one with Fire Bolt through a shelf of potions
- Elias runs up kills the third through another shelf
- Rormir looks around, trying to find food
- He doesn’t really find any, though, since he’s not entirely clear on what
“food” is yet
- He grabs a bottle of drain cleaner than has a big skull on the front, but
Elias suggests he not eat that one.
- Rormir looks through the body of the burglar he killed, and
finds a gold ring with a hawk embossed on it
- Elias loots another corpse and takes the mask,
another gold ring, and a dagger
- The face under the mask seems like a normal dead human
face
- Elias puts on the mask, and says “Look at
me, I’m a nerd!”
- Heph tries to get to the back door, but can’t quite make it by
dashing on his next turn
- He calls out loudly for his parents, and doesn’t receive an answer
- Rormir opens the door and is immediately jumped by another
burglar
