Last session, our heroes were reunited with their old companion Rormir, but not in the form they remembered. Heph saw Rormir looking back out of the eyes of a large dire wolf. The wolf transformed back into Rormir, although in an unfamiliar form. He was wreathed in a dark light punctuated by glowing orbs in the constellation of a primordial hunter. He called Heph a Pest and Elias “Raccoonias”, seemingly seeing them in a different form than they truly were. Heph remembered that Rormir was under a similar Geas to what he was briefly under, although with a much stronger effect. He and Elias struggled to force feed a vial of blessed venom to Rormir, eventually succeeding. Heph tried to remind Rormir of his time spent with the party (specifically of falling naked through a portal in a tavern ceiling and killing Elias), and he began to return to his old self.

Meanwhile, Maho found herself alone inside a forcefield generated by a mysterious device alongside four unconscious goliaths. She struck at the device as its vibrations shook loose the edge of the nearby cliff face, quickly approaching where she was stuck. Eventually, thinking fast, she jammed her sheathed katana into the spinning bars at the center of the machine, stopping their rotation and disabling the forcefield before she and the goliaths fell off the cliff into the River Sarn below.

The venom delivered and Rormir returning to himself, he stopped attacking the party and delivered an arrow made of now white light into the elvish archer. The elvish artificer ran to hold his dagger up against the throat of one of the unconscious goliaths, but Elias Misty Stepped behind him and killed him with Jarles. Rormir finished off the archer, and the party regrouped.

A Sending Stone fell out of the archer’s robe. A voice came out in an elvish accent that Rormir recognized, saying “Lython, what is it? … I’ll come back soon”. The party decided to lay in wait for whoever was arriving. There they started to catch Rormir up to date on what had been happening. Rormir revealed that in his time under the influence of Isabella he had unlocked some druidic powers. He also mentioned that he had killed many goliaths, a revelation which caused Maho some well-founded distrust. She sheathed her sword for the moment, but resolved to keep an eye on him.

After over an hour of waiting, Karrl spotted a wagon approaching from the south. It was pulled by two beautiful white horses driven by a black cloaked figure wearing a porcelain mask. On the side of the fabric covering the wagon were the words “Lucien Dynastic”.
